Reflective essay

                 During this semester in your class I learned things that honestly I really never knew I was using when it came to my writing.For example when it came to the case of rhetorical devices I never really knew what these strategies meant.This was something important for me to learn because i feel like now i’m going to be able to implement this more On my writing.In my future classes i would like to learn how to continue improve my academic Writing I feel that practice makes perfect.There are things that I would continue to learn in order to get to a level where my wrtiing is academically college professional writing.From where i started until now i feel that my writing processes has improved and has grown Im writing much more clearer than i used to before.Something that i would take with me is To never assume that i know everything in writing there are different ways of writing When reading other people’s work.Don’t provide advice from a critique point of view but instead see how my partners work and mines are different and similar and from there seeWhat we can learn from each other.When it comes to course learnign objectives.Explore and analyze, in writing and reading, a variety of genres and rhetorical situations.when it comes to this course objective i did see different types of writing from my other peers i learned that their are different way of saying things.In my writing i kind of implemented key rhetorical form when i was asked to but when I started off in the beginning i did not know how to implement them until i learned how to use Them when expressing myself in my writing.

                                     Sexism in the music Industry

                   In this paper we are going to be talking about how women are sidelined in the music Industry because they carry the roles of being females. Women most of the time are manipulated in sexual ways and some of the time because they are desperate to reach their dreams, they become victims. For the most part it is hard for women to be taken seriously because the music Industry is so male dominated. Having to be since it’s so male dominated that implies that when.Women in today’s industry take a risk step to show their talent they aren’t taken as a serious they Are always expected to give something back in return just because their women. The same respect isn’t reciprocated towards women how it is towards men.

                          Women in the music industry today are seen as unfit for the jobs of being performers or anything that has to do with music. The masculinity is very strong there is too much sexism enforced on women today because masculine men are not used to seeing women strive for their dreams. Also, what women are enforced to sing in the music industry sometimes it does not lineup with their value and beliefs about what women are. ‘‘This is where objectification comes into the picture. Not only are the lyrics to ‘item songs’ sexist and misogynistic, but they also nullify everything the female singers stand for by limiting their voices to erotic, sexualized embodiment.’’(Kare Srishti).Women are put in a position to sing something that sometimes doesn’t have any resignation towards them. Well like they say if there is no pain for women in the music industry there is no gain. Women in the music businessHave to work twice as harder to achieve what they have to achieve and be taken seriously.

                            Primarily In today’s music industry women are objectified put in a Position where their bodies are seen as more important than their talent. Also Women are put in a position that they get because of their bodies. Women who have different body shapes who are a bit much fuller the probability of them getting ashamed is higher. . ‘’There are numerous cases of this type of online abuse specifically towards female artists – photos of Selena Gomez in Los Angeles in 2021 received horrific comments such as ‘help she’s BIG big.’’’( Walker Lauren).The most common thing people are use to seeing is women who areSkinny with athletic bodies. Many artists like Lizzo is one of them that standups and embraces her true body counts. Selena Gomez is one of the artists who has also hopped off social media to prioritize her mental health more due to the comments people post about since she ever started To embrace her true self more. In this period women are exposed to feeling poor about their body image because of commented things said about them. A survey group was conducted towards 7^th and 8^th graders in the south metropolitan area asking them questions about social medial use. Many of the girls that were interviewed responded saying that the reason women post is because they want a validation Concerning their body’s. Most women on media post because they like the feeling of being praised and told nice things. ‘‘ Though the conversations revolved around the selfie behavior of peers, no participants in this sample endorsed needing the praise elicited by selfies. Meghan (Group 7b) summarized it well when she said, “I don’t need people to tell me I’m pretty on social media.” (Burnette Kwotoski).Its about the self-centered validation. In today’s industry the amount of males in the music industry has overthrown Women because of this cause a lot of masculinity has been thrown out there. Therefore, some women have gotten sexually abused and manipulated by music producers to get to where they are now. Most successful women in the industry when starting off are in poor conditions which means They don’t have the funds to defend themselves and fight against the injustice. This cause has an emotional effect on women which makes them feel like do they really belong to these industry’s. This cause has caused many women to feel a lack of confidence with exposing themselves Outhere In the business because they feel like they are only being celebrated for their body’s And not for their talent.

                  When it comes to sexual violence this one of causes that are seen out there. One of the examples is how people in the lqbtq aren’t being promoted or exposed for their talent’s as it should be. This is called a systematic Gender inequality-based system. Working within the music industry can be controlling if you allow it to be this idea of wanting to change people’s image is constantly a norm that is being practiced.‘‘Gender inequality is fundamentally intertwined with sexual violence (VicHealth 2011; Wall 2014). This inequality is located within differential access to power and resources, social and cultural norms that systematically devalue women and gender- diverse people, and rigid norms around what it means to be a ‘man’ or a ‘woman’, to name but a few examples (Wall 2014).’’(strong,Catherine).gender norms have becomes the common thing sometimes people with talent have to submit because they have no other choice Or some just leave and hope for the better. Many open spaces and live music festivals don’t allow as anything that’s outside of the usual when it comes to performance. When it comes to how the music industry do you think that name branding is something that has become common in how things functions? Well I would personally say yes that name branding gender has become usual Most music industry draw up an image of how a girl should be like for their business.Male’s don’t really experience this kind of treatment because they have more of a say. But one of the examples we can reference too is Miley Cyrus she was a girl who was given an image by Disney Hannah Montana while being Miley Cyrus at the sametime.To add on, that role of Hannah Montana wasn’t just a role she played on set and where it was like action and done. Not quite Exactly this role the Disney  production put on her was something that was affecting her real Image. Miley was starting to feel forced to be this Hannah image everywhere she went. There were expectation and boundaries the Disney production wanted her to keep in order to align with 

This image. Here is where the problem comes in the music industry can be dangerous because if you allow them to change your image they will. The Disney production felt that after she started showing her true self like in 2016 that she wasn’t fit for that role anymore and they completely Said she was a whole different person because of the kind of music content she was putting out there which was hip-hop.” This conglom- erate of good girl and bad girl is perhaps the most ancient sexist stereotype, ensuring that women and girls are defined to suit the varying needs of men. In 2009, Lieb writes, the former Disney star and good girl, Miley Cyrus, “trying desperately to break free of her Disney origins,” had presented herself as a pole-dancing, penis-cake chomping temptress (p. 108)”(caputi Jane).This just shows how the Disney production Has always had this image in their head of what a good girl should look like or what a bad girl Should like. Therefore, after Miley broke out from that contract they her image of a girl to them Was broken.

                      Therefore, this is where mental health comes in and how the live of many artist have been effected by this Miley was one of the artist who felt in a state of depression because of all she went through with Disney. Then Selena Gomez feeling pressured to be like another girl Who were skinny all these aspects have some sort of effect on these artists mental health. Therefore, these challenges they have experienced is what has made them to be the people they are today.

                    Music has also the power of identity formation and changing up a person’s identity.For example when it comes to hip-hop a typical hip-hop girl would look hoody, sexy, strong All these aspects contribute to the identity formation that music brings along. Music doesn’t only come by itself it comes with a set of rules and expectations. Music also has some sort. Of manipulation and power into persuading you to think that you gave to be some sort of way.“Music has a special way of getting past the bouncers of human unconscious’’.(brown,Steven).Music has to power to bring positive effect, but justice and respect is not being served to women. As it should be. Women are set to many expectations, and this brings about lack of consideration.At the end of the day their all humans like us.My takeaway from this paper is that women should not be defined by their looks or by the shape of their body. I feel that there should be justice served to the music industry because of the many abuses women have gone through just because of wanting to Expose their talent out there. Women should be respected just as men are they should be defined by their looks just as men are not defined by their looks when it comes to music industry.

                                          A religious impaction

        Hi my names jadiel I once in my life was a boy who had a very serious belief and i felt that this belief i had was just a belief that had to do with always wanting to be perfect.I felt that inorder to be loved by a deity or god that you couldn’t be this certain way.My old belief was that in order to be like in front of a religious deity or god you had to be perfect and clean.Just having this point of view was draining at some point because i feel like i was being someone that i wasn’t.I feel that i grew up hearing that to be loved by jesus you have to be exactly like him and that’s where to me the funny part comes in because no can be exactly like him everyone has their own original identity.It just these stories that i have heard since a child played a role in my life that i lost focus of what really matter now.I Feel like i got so accustomed to hearing these stories that i felt that if i did something out of the ordinary it wasn’t ok.I Started visiting  a religious institution that was controlling and wanted to implement these harsh  rules.To me these rules that men wanted to enforce on me was just a strategy to change who i actually am i feel like this was a way to  keep me from being  who i actually am .I thought that these institution were  a way of bringing unity between humanities but what i came to realize was that they were a system of division because inorder to align to their way of being perfect  aligning with their standards Was a way of contributing to their vision of perfection.In most of these institutions your opinion or your voice is not really projected or seen as important.The funny part is just how you would live your everyday life with most of the people you considered to be real and then they aren’t.I  came out as a gay men to them and now I’m part of the lqbtq community and i when i came out as gay men they felt feared.To me it was just an experience that caused me to see their true colors.In the beginning it wasn’t easy because i felt like i had to hide a part of myself just to please others.I felt that if i made others happy that will contribute to my happiness.I noticed that the religious fanatics people are afraid of the boldness and power us lqbtq people can bring towards helping other people come out .I feel that i was finally me when i opened up to being myself.They are more about a certain doctrine being teached and then this doctrine was the only one that was important to them.But in my experience i felt that that this way of them teaching their doctrine was draining because i would force myself to be something i couldn’t even be myself i felt that it was completely causing me to be divided from my friends and family.I noticed that if i wouldn’t of left this institution i would been drifting away from having many great relationships with people who have a beautiful personality.  It was a process because sometimes talking about how you feel is an exercise.But as gay men i’m empowered to help others who need to find their voice.Sometimes giving your voice might not be as easy.To me religion plays a role in dividing people and race.Not only even race and culture but people with different sexual orientations.To have a relationship with god or even with something spiritual doesn’t mean you have to change who you are or your identity .This is what this institution was doing to me.

I felt like i wasn’t being myself like a part of me just wanted to come out.I share this story because anyone who is going through this i don’t want them to go through the same thing to know that there is hope at the end of the tunnel.I just remember being 2 person’s at the same time like i wanted to be what other people wanted me to be and then i had another part of me that just wanted to glow.To be honest that is draining because you can’t do all at once.There’s nothing more harsh then living a religious life something that detains you from not being who you actually are.Something that brings down your opinion or tries to shut down your voice.Later on i found myself leaving because most of the people weren’t real and were just people pleasers.I found myself searching for a community that has no division,no hatred or judgment .I feel that this doctrine they teached was just causing me to not really focus on what matter now which is living life here because they focus so much on the afterlife and where your going to go after death.Acceptance ,kindness and empowerment .I found an lqbtq community of faith and they are the most loving people because they work constructing the word to make it work for every person and everyone no matter who you are or where you come from.To be honest i feel like i can have true spiritual life now one becuase im myself and not pretending to be something i’m not.Also because i have learned to build good relationships With people who value empowerment and mental health.Mental health to me is something very important to me because if you don’t love yourself you can’t love others.Loving me and who i Am is a vital essence so that I can be the best version of myself to every person I value and have love for .I feel like i was giving myself that love before that I should have given myself and I am thankful for the experience because that has made me to be what i am today.To me this experience are something that should be experienced i don’t complain about them because to me it was just meant to be and it was within the plan for this to happen.Sometimes in life you just have to hit a rock how they say in my country and learn and this is exactly what happened to me I had to live the experience inorder to see the real truth.Has my belief changed in some aspects yes and i still believe in god now i fully believe that he is in favor for everyone and everybody and that there is no distinction or division when approaching him as the real you.

Social Movements exist because people use a form of defense to want to make change or imply a change within society.Social Movements tend to be looked at as a strong weapon because when more people gather together their voices are heard more.The greater the impact and the greater the change when there are social movements.This event happened during the period of june ,7, 2020 in times square.Herbertt ruffin in this case came to study about the rapid rise of the social inequality that black people are experiencing in the united states.Some examples of rhetorical devices being used in this image is hyperbole which is considered be a statement that is over explained inorder to prove a point.As you can see here Herbert point is to prove that there has been a rapid rise in social inequality towards people of color.Another form of rhetorical devices being used in this case is logos turning the audience’s attention towards the logical structure of and evidence provided by the content of the communication. Logos is being used thoroughly in the way the writer communicates about the situation.In quotes when ‘’Like other protesters, Black Lives Matter members were angered not simply by the shooting of an unarmed African American but also because his body was allowed to lie in the street for four hours before it was eventually taken to the city morgue, an event that was well documented by bystanders with cell phones and distributed within minutes around the world via Twitter and Facebook.’’This is an actual example of how the reader’s attention is Catched easily into putting more attention towards defending the cause of power abuse by police towards people of color.An event like this happened in st.louis Missouri.I feel that the writer chose to convey his message this way to make people realize the dangerous impact of police brutality and to show that black people are not being treated like others just because of a pigment color they have on their skin.

Also this shows how stereotypes Have a tremendous amount of effect because the information that has been passed down about black people sometimes isn’t the nicest things said.This information has caused one negative opinion about a certain black person to be taken for all black people to be looked at the same way . Another statement that represents rhetorical devices was one that was made by Dr.Martin Luther King jr during  “None of us are free until all of us are free,”.In this statement you can say that there’s some amount of parentheses being used which is a bit of additional information.Martin did not just state none of us are freeHe kind of also added until all of us are free he stated the solution to the problem.This organizational movement was very impactful because is rising in awareness in people to fight for what’s right.I feel that the way the author communicated was effective because he gave a lot of background information to make the reader understand what they are reading inorder to inform others about it.I don’t personally think There could have been any other way he could have explained it.
